Steve & wife – Feb 28th 2015
I booked the Branston Hall Hotel for one night as a surprise for my wifes 50th birthday. I paid for a package that included a large bedroom with a four poster bed, as well as dinner bed and breakfast.
The Hotel has a very professional web site, and includes a video of their facilities. Basically its an 18th Century Country House that’s been converted into an amazing hotel after many years of being left derelict. They have a swimming pool (that regrettably was out of action over the period we were there). There is also a sauna and a Jacuzzi.
Restaurant food was lovely, and my wife said she’d had the best lamb she’d ever had! One critisim though, we booked a table for a certain time in the evening. We turned up at that time, and were shown to a seating area along with other diners . It was not far off an hour before we were shown to a table. If your dining during the evening ask the question “What time will I actually be seated?â€. That said, it didn’t spoil our stay, and my wife and I both enjoyed the break.

Just got back from a wonderful couple of nights staying here on business. Firstly, a wonderful lounge area with leather sofas positioned by a roaring fire, perfect for that pre-dinner drink! The food in the restaurant was fantastic on both nights, massive compliments to the chef who took it upon himself to impress us even more on the second night & he did! Breakfast was good, plenty of choices. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were really friendly, professional and polite with a great sense of humour when appropriate as well! Looking forward to a return visit.

This is one of our favourite trips truly relaxing with a fantastic spacious room. We booked direct with an excellent member of staff and had arranged a package deal of lakeside suite (room 119), 3 course meal on first night and breakfast for both. The room was very elegant and bright with views out to the lake and fields. With the snow falling heavily on the Saturday morning it was a very beautiful sight. The room had a table and chairs by the huge windows so you could sit there with a glass of wine and enjoy the view. The four poster bed was probably the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in and we didn’t want to get up. The added bonus of a separate dressing room was also a treat for me with lots of cupboard space and good lighting when putting make up on. The bathroom was also very large with a big corner bath.
Dinner on both nights was excellent and the portions very generous. My husband loved the kidneys for starter which he had 2 evenings in a row and I thought the beef was just fantastic. Breakfast was also very good. We both opted for the cooked options from the menu as we are not lovers of buffet food. The bacon roll I had was huge and probably the best I have ever had! Thank god for a hotel that uses unsmoked bacon, not everyone likes smoked. My husband had porridge with honey and pecans which he really enjoyed. The serving staff were mainly young but friendly and fun but at the same time very professional.
Lots of walks to take. We opted to walk down to the lakes first to visit the 2 rescued black swans who were happy to see us in the snow followed by a walk around the hotel perimeter and then into Branston village which has some quirky period features such as a water pump, sheep dip and various plaques on house walls and not forgetting the local.(see separate review).
This is definitely a place where we will return to. Pretty booked up for the year but we are going to try and squeeze another relaxing weekend if possible. Thanks to all the staff who have been trained to a high standard and have excellent customer service skills. Note to Management: put a bottle of still and sparkling water in the suites we were surprised not to see any.

We were a party of four women who booked a two night stay on a half board basis. Upon arrival we were notified that the pool area was temporarily out of order which was a real disappointment for us. However, we were offered a generous discount and room upgrade . The staff were absolutely , unequivocally superb. Sarah Smith, deputy manager was fabulous and very professional. Bar staff, breakfast staff and restaurant staff were fabulous. The grounds and views were superb. The black swans were a beautiful sight during our walk. Simpsons Spa on site is an oasis of peace and tranquility with all of us rating the treatments highly! Last but by no means least, the food is FANTASTIC!!!! It was as good as five star cuisine in all of our opinions and compared to Michelin starred fare. We will be back ! Truly a superb weekend !

We decided to have a family Christmas at Branston Hall with my daughters and father. We were not disapointed. Everything was perfect, the staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, every single member of staff that we met were cheerful and helpful.
As this is an old Country house we had expected the hotel to be cold and draughty but it was the opposite, really warm and the huge fire was lovely as were both the lounges.
Our rooms had fine views of the lake and grounds and were well equipped. We knew that the hotel was going to give everyone a gift and on arrival there was a gift wrapped calender of the hotel in each room for us. Christmas day lunch there was a large gift wrapped parcel for each person on the table, again from the hotel, a really lovely gift for us. Then Santa brought round yet another gift from the hotel for everyone. Much, much more than we expected.
The food was very well presented and plentiful with a very interesting vegetarian menu as well. The restaurant is in a lovely setting overlooking the lake. All the entertainment suited the occasion perfectly and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We did make use of the swimming pool complex which was warm, peaceful, tastefully decorated and clean.
When we came to leave the cars were covered in snow but a member of staff had been out and cleared the snow off my car without being asked.
A truly lovely place to spend Christmas.
